WHAT – In observance of March as Women’s History Month, Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) is honoring outstanding women who make a tremendous impact on the communities of District 5.
During the Wednesday, March 25 celebration at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, Legislator Nicks will recognize:
- Uniondale High School Girls Wrestling Team
- Paulana Lamonier, Multimedia Journalist & Founder, Black People Will Swim
- Dr. LaShawn Lukes, President, New Greater Hempstead Chamber of Commerce
- Rita Brown, Owner – For Juice Sake, West Hempstead
- Ebony Guerrier, Founder - Mrs. G's Brown Bag Charity (Uniondale)
- Barbara Hafner, Public Education Advocate & retired teacher, W. Hempstead UFSD
- Barbara “Bobbie” Powell, President, Hempstead Branch of the NAACP
- Tina Hodge-Bowles, Executive Director, Operation Get Ahead
