(WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) is pleased to report that the $3 million reconstruction of the West Hempstead Police Athletic League (PAL) ice hockey rink has broken ground. Officials from Pratt Brothers, Inc., who have been hired to complete the project, told Legislator Nicks during a Thursday, April 9 visit to Halls Pond Park that the work is expected to take approximately six months to complete.
“For generations of families, the ice hockey rink at Halls Pond Park has been a tremendous asset to West Hempstead and its neighboring communities and the host for countless P.A.L. programs that provided our youth with safe, structured program that enriched their lives,” Legislator Nicks said. “I am thrilled that we have broken ground on a 21st-century facility that will be enjoyed by local families and leagues for many years to come.”
