(WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) secured the Monday, July 27 passage of a $146,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant that will equip the West Hempstead Water District to purchase a new service vehicle, backhoe and other related items necessary for the maintenance, operation and improvement of the water system.
“The West Hempstead Water District is sincerely grateful for the opportunity to receive this funding, which will enhance our ability to respond promptly to water main breaks, perform critical maintenance more efficiently, and strengthen the overall reliability and resiliency of our water infrastructure,” said Frederick Kurz, Assistant Superintendent of the West Hempstead Water District. “Serving approximately 32,000 residents, the West Hempstead Water District plays a vital role in protecting public health by ensuring the continuous delivery of reliable, potable drinking water. Strengthening our infrastructure not only benefits the residents of the West Hempstead Water District but also enhances regional emergency preparedness, ensuring that Nassau County emergency response resources remain available to address the areas of greatest need.”
