(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) partnered with the Nassau County Police Department’s Office of Community Affairs and the County’s Department of Traffic Safety to provide free Child Car Seat Safety Checks at the Van Ness Fire Station on Wednesday, June 24. Certified technicians, led by Sergeant Dan Johansson, called upon their expertise to ensure that car seats are properly installed, and providing optimal protection for the young people riding in them.
“Vehicle accidents are a leading cause of death and injury for children in the United States, and as a longtime member of the Uniondale Fire Department, I will always do everything within my power to keep our communities safe and give my neighbors added peace of mind,” Legislator Nicks said. “Thank you to Sergeant Johansson, the Department of Traffic Safety, the Office of Community Affairs, and our hosts at the Uniondale Fire Department for making this potentially life-saving resource available to our community!”
