(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) secured the unanimous passage of a $32,787.50 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant that will be applied toward the replacement of flooring and seating in the Uniondale Public Library’s auditorium.
“Renovations to the Uniondale Public Library theater, which suffered severe basement flood damage that forced its closure, will restore a crucial space for community engagement. The upgrades will provide the library with a safe, modernized space to host educational workshops, cultural events, and youth programs, thereby fulfilling the library's strategic priority to meet the evolving needs of the Uniondale community,” Mara Marin, Directress of the Uniondale Public Library, said. “Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks has been instrumental in this recovery effort. Legislator Nicks toured the flooded facility with UPL leadership and continuously collaborated with the Board of Trustees and library officials to advocate for the project, ultimately helping secure essential support to reconstruct the theater.”
“As a former Uniondale Library trustee, I know personally how the auditorium is a critical space for the library’s programs that serve our neighbors throughout the year, and it is essential for this space to be optimally equipped for our community,” Legislator Nicks said. “I am very glad that this investment in the future of the Uniondale Library earned unanimous approval, and I thank my Democratic colleagues for standing together to ensure that every Nassau community receives the resources it needs to thrive.”
