(EAST MEADOW, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined their colleagues in government at Eisenhower Park on Thursday, Sept. 17 for the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency’s annual Veterans Picnic and Resource Fair. In addition to refreshments, a barbecue lunch and important community resources geared toward veterans, the event included performances by the Tangerine Band and the American Bombshells.
“Each year, this event gives all of us a wonderful chance to connect with our veterans, express our heartfelt gratitude for their service, and learn how we can best meet their needs as elected officials,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé, the ranking member of the Legislature’s Veterans and Seniors committee, said. “I am always proud to stand with the men and women who served our country, and I thank Ralph Esposito and his team for all they do to provide assistance on a daily basis.”
“As a 15-year member of the Uniondale Fire Department, I frequently cross paths with many military veterans, and I am constantly in awe of their courage and their commitment to service even after their tour of duty has ended,” Legislator Nicks said. “We owe it to each of them to do everything in our power to meet their needs, and it is wonderful to see how Ralph Esposito and his team continue to create forums for engaging with the men and women who gave so much to our nation and our communities.”
