(WESTBURY and HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) and Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) proudly joined the Hempstead NAACP at Westbury Manor on Thursday, Aug. 20 for their annual summer soiree fundraiser.
“For generations, the NAACP has been on the forefront of the struggle for equality and liberty for every American,” Legislator Davis said. “At a time when this work is especially critical, the tireless efforts of chapters like the Hempstead NAACP and leaders like Bobbie Powell will make a tremendous impact. I am proud to stand with them in their ongoing advocacy for a more just and perfect union.”
“Progress doesn’t happen by accident – it is a product of focused advocacy, courageous leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the bedrock principle of liberty and justice for all,” Legislator Nicks said. “The Hempstead NAACP embodies that ethos through its work in our community, and I commend Bobbie Powell and the entire chapter for their commitment to this noble cause.”
