(ELMONT, N.Y.) - To help give students a strong start to the 2025-26 school year, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) teamed up with the Elmont Cultural Center, Meera Empowerment, Universal Interactions, the Gift of Giving Foundation, and additional community partners to host a back-to-school giveaway at Elmont Road Park on Saturday, Aug. 30 – a Labor Day weekend celebration during which hundreds of students received backpacks, school supplies, and more. Additional support was provided by the Green Acres Mall.
“Affordability is a concern for many Nassau County families, and back-to-school season is a time of year when those challenges can be especially pressing,” Legislator Solages said. “We are all profoundly grateful for the generous sponsors that joined forces with us and gave hundreds of families peace of mind and confidence as our children return to school.”
