(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) joined the Haitian American Alliance of New York at Nassau Community College on Saturday, May 2 as the organization celebrated its 30th anniversary. As part of a weekend of events, Legislator Solages joined HAANY for its fifth annual Building Bridges and Empowerment seminar, where he participated in a forum sponsored by The Haitian Times. Guests included the publication’s Pulitzer Prize-winning founder and publisher Garry Pierre-Pierre.
For three decades, HAANY has done incredible work to empower Haitian Americans, promote civic engagement, and build alliances that uplift the entire diaspora,” Legislator Solages said. “As the first Haitian American to be elected to the Nassau County Legislature, I am especially grateful for their commitment to a better tomorrow and advocacy for initiatives that bolster education and health programs around the world.”
