(MINEOLA and UNIONDALE, N.Y.) – Prior to the Monday, March 9 meeting of the Nassau County Legislature, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) commemorated International Women’s Day by recognizing Elvia J. Cruz for her tireless and multifaceted efforts to uplift the community.

Cruz, of Uniondale, serves as Vice President of the Honduran Central American Chamber of Commerce of Long Island, which serves the communities of District 3. She also works with the U.S. Federal Chaplain N.Y. on their initiatives to combat food insecurity amongst veterans and seniors. Legislators Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) and Cynthia Nuñez (D – Valley Stream) joined Legislator Solages in celebrating Cruz’s achievements and contributions to the community.

“Through her entrepreneurship, philanthropic activities and commitment to community leadership, Elvia Cruz embodies the spirit of strength, compassion and courage at the core of every International Women’s Day celebration,” Legislator Solages said. “It was a privilege and an honor to recognize her at the Legislature and salute her commitment to making a difference.”
