I extend my congratulations to the class of 2026 for Elmont High School and Sewanhaka High School. The seniors in this class faced unprecedented challenges, having missed their sixth-grade graduation ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite these obstacles, they have demonstrated remarkable resilience. Notably, the current job market presents additional hurdles, with college unemployment rates exceeding the national average.
I would like to express my gratitude to the parents and community members who have supported these individuals throughout their journey, fostering their growth and determination. I was able to attend the ceremony and even change attire, transitioning from a green suit to a purple one.
