Legislator Solages Secures $145K for Lakeview Public Library

(LAKEVIEW, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) secured the unanimous passage of two Community Revitalization Program (CRP) grants, totaling $145,500, for improvements to the Lakeview Public Library on Monday, July 27. Funds will be applied toward the acquisition and installation of mobile meeting rooms containing study pods, as well as a video monitoring system (VMS) and cameras.

“The study pods would be a great addition to the Lakeview library, as they will fill a need for quiet spaces to study individually or in a group, take a web meeting or job interview, attend a telehealth appointment, or make a quick phone call,” said Lakeview Public Library Director Camina Raphaël-Lubin. “This is important because our library spaces are very open, sound travels easily, and there is no privacy. Many patrons have asked for pods like these, and some have even been visiting neighboring libraries to use their quiet pods.”

“The Lakeview Public Library is a vibrant community hub where thousands are connected with resources that further their education, provide entertainment for themselves and their families, and offer gateways to important opportunities for civic involvement,” Legislator Solages said. “The funds my office has secured for the Library will go a long way toward making this facility even safer and more enjoyable for all who rely upon it, and I thank the Legislature for unanimously approving this investment in the greater Lakeview community.”
