Legislator Solages Celebrates Haitian Flag Day With Elmont Cultural Center

(ELMONT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) proudly joined the Elmont Cultural Center and for their annual Haitian Flag Day parade and celebration on Saturday, May 16. The event spotlighted Haitian culture, music, art, history, and community with live performances, Rara music, a cultural fashion show, concerts and entertainment, vendors, and more.

“This weekend, the rich cultural tapestry of the Haitian diaspora was on full and resplendent display in the streets of Elmont, and it shined a bright light upon the daily artistic, economic and public service contributions made by Haitians in America,” Legislator Solages said. “As the first Haitian American elected to the Nassau Legislature, I am thankful to Mimi Pierre Johnson, the Elmont Cultural Center, and all of the sponsors who made this event possible, and we continue to pray for an end to gang violence and a return to law, order, and stability for our beloved capital of Port-au-Prince.”
