WHAT – In observance of April 22 as Earth Day, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) is encouraging community members to join him in supporting the Lakeview Civic Association’s annual spring cleanup at the Lakeview LIRR station at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 18.
Garbage bags and plastic gloves will be provided by organizers; participants are encouraged to bring pokers, rakes, grabbers, and other supplemental tools. To safeguard against ticks and other hazards, attendees are encouraged to wear long sleeves, pants, socks, and other protective attire. Community service hours will be awarded to eligible participants.
“In my short time of serving as Lakeview’s Legislator, I have truly been impressed and inspired by this historic community’s deep civic pride and commitment to making it a better and more beautiful place,” Legislator Solages said. “This community cleanup has become a great tradition, and I am looking forward to rolling up my sleeves as we work together to keep Lakeview green this Earth Day.”
