(ELMONT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages began his observance of Independence Day by joining the Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center for a July 4 breakfast and flag raising celebration at their Elmont headquarters. “This association of community leaders and business leaders gathered to discuss the importance of being an American and how it is our continued obligation to protect our freedom,” Legislator Solages said. “I was particularly touched by one speaker’s comments, in which he shared his vivid memories of the day he came to America and all that he has been able to achieve since that time in our great country. It was an honor to be a part of this discussion and help to raise our flag as we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary.”
