WHAT: Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) is partnering with the Nassau County Department of Assessment to bring the Homeowner Exemption Liaison Program (HELP) to the Port Washington Library on Thursday, Sept. 3. previously hosted a HELP workshop at Sea Cliff Village Hall on July 1.
During HELP events, Department of Assessment staff provide homeowners with individual assistance with completing and filing applications for veteran, senior citizen, Cold War veteran, volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker, and limited-income disability exemptions. Enhanced STAR applications will also be processed for homeowners already enrolled in the STAR program prior to Jan. 2, 2015.
All HELP sessions are from noon to 2 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive no later than one half-hour prior to the scheduled end time for the event, and to bring copies of their 2025 federal and state income tax returns and other required documentation for completing the application.
“As Nassau families work to make ends meet, it is especially important to ensure that you have applied for and are receiving every tax exemption that your family is eligible to receive,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “Whether you are filing for the first time or renewing your exemptions, I encourage you to join us in Port Washington on Sept. 3, where you will receive expert assistance with completing and filing your applications in a convenient, conformable setting.”
