(SEA CLIFF, N.Y.)– Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) congratulated the Sea Cliff Arts Council on the success of their first Film Festival. Held on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14, the Film Festival showcased 11 full-length films and 26 shorts at three venues in the heart of Sea Cliff – St. Luke's Episcopal Church the, Sea Cliff Elementary School, and the Sea Cliff Arts Council.

Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton proudly supported the Film Festival by securing $17,000 in recent Hotel-Motel grant funds in support of tourism and cultural initiatives in the County. The funds were applied toward the purchase of mobile projection units, viewing screens and speakers.

“I can’t think of a better place than Sea Cliff to host this type of film festival, and I am so grateful that we were able to secure the funds to support the Arts Council as they created an event that showcases the talents of so many impressive local artists,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “Even during a sunny, beautiful weekend, the Film Festival was extremely well attended and embraced by the public, and that is a testament to the hard work of the organizers, committee members, supporters and volunteers who made it all possible. We’re already looking forward to the next one!”
