Good morning
– The following is a statement from Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) –
“Nassau University Medical Center is key to our regional healthcare framework. This Level 1 trauma center is equipped with a world-class burn treatment center, provides vital in-patient drug detox services, and delivers essential healthcare resources for some of our region’s most vulnerable communities,” Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) said. “Simply put - Nassau County and our region cannot afford to lose NUMC. However, decades of flagrant waste and cronyism - which reached a fever pitch under the mismanagement of County Executive Blakeman and his hand-chosen political operatives - pushed this facility to the brink of collapse. I thank Governor Kathy Hochul for committing nearly $110 million in new resources to NUMC and taking bold action to get this essential public health facility on the path to recovery and long-term sustainability for the benefit of our entire region.”
