(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – In observance of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in America, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) partnered with NuHealth to bring the breast cancer screening van to the Charles Evans Center in Glen Cove on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
“Early detection is so important, and NUMC’s mammography van makes it easy and convenient to receive potentially life-saving care. In fact, a screening that one of my constituents received spotted something that turned out to be breast cancer, and I’m thrilled to say she was treated successfully and still doing very well,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “That is why I am so thankful that this year’s event had a record number of signups – thank you to the Charles Evans Center for setting up the appointments, Nassau University Medical Center for bringing the van, and everyone who took this incredibly important step for themselves and their futures!”
