Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton Supports GCPD STOP-DWI Grant

(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – During the Monday, Sept. 14 committee meetings of the Nassau County Legislature, Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) proudly voted to accept STOP DWI Foundation funding that the Glen Cove Police Department will apply toward enhanced patrols and checkpoints during holiday periods, with a focus on preventing roadway injuries and fatalities caused by impaired driving.

Glen Cove will receive $3,900 in 2026 as part of the five-year contract, and additional funding will be awarded each year based upon availability until 2030 through the Governor’s Traffic Safety Board.

“As a public official and a mother, one of the most important messages we can convey is that Nassau County will never tolerate drunk or drugged driving on our roadways,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “These funds will equip our partners in law enforcement to keep our communities safe, and I was proud to vote in favor for STOP-DWI grants that will benefit the City of Glen Cove and communities across Nassau County.”
