(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D -Glen Cove) had the pleasure of supporting Glen Cove High School’s inaugural “Athletes Helping Athletes” holiday toy drive on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
The success of the event, which marks an expansion of the student organization’s yearlong commitment to philanthropy, was further enhanced by the contributions of CSEA Local 830, whose members delivered the toys dressed in their Yuletide best with an assist from Santa Claus.
“All throughout the year, the members of Athletes Helping Athletes lead the way on programs that make the world around them a better and kinder place, and I am thrilled that they are expanding their efforts,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “Congratulations to Kim Kessel, Glen Cove High School’s staff, and all of the athletes for all they did to make the holiday season brighter for so many deserving families – and thank you to our friends at CSEA Local 830 for so generously supporting such a fantastic initiative!”
“We are incredibly grateful to CSEA for their kindness and generosity in donating toys to our inaugural Athletes Helping Athletes Toy Drive,” Kim Kessel, the faculty adviser for Athletes Helping Athletes, said. “Thank you for helping make this event such a success!”
