DeRiggi-Whitton, Project HELP Long Island Host Narcan Training Session at Manorhaven Village Hall

(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) - Equip yourself with the knowledge that may one day empower you to save a person’s life by joining Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) and Project HELP Long Island at their upcoming Narcan training event at Manorhaven Village Hall.

From 7 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, participants will be provided Narcan kits and learn how to spot the signs of an opiate overdose, be shown how to administer intranasal Naloxone to reverse an overdose and learn about new approaches to treating addiction. The sessions are being presented in partnership with Nassau County’s Department of Human Services and the Office of the Nassau County Executive.

“Narcan is a proven tool for reversing overdoses. Paired with public education and preparedness, each of us has the ability to save a life and respond to an emergency when every second can make a difference,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I’m proud to once again be partnering with Project HELP, the County, and the Village of Manorhaven to bring Narcan training to our community so that we can all learn how to give a person a second chance at life and a chance for long term recovery.”

For more information about the workshop, please contact Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton’s office at 516-571-6211 or dderiggiwhitton@nassaucountyny.gov.
