(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – On Monday, July 27, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) secured the unanimous passage of a $350,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant for recently-completed improvements at the City of Glen Cove’s Ernest J. Pascucci Memorial Soccer Field.
The funds will be applied toward the purchase and installation of new lights and bathrooms and other related items, marking the latest round of improvements at the Pascucci Field complex. Replacement fields were completed in 2024, and a new scoreboard was installed in 2025.
The facility was officially dedicated by former Mayor Donald DeRiggi in honor of the late Ernest J. Pascucci, a giant figure in Glen Cove’s civic life whose service as the City’s Department of Public Works director made a lasting impact.
“Our family is deeply honored to see the continued investment in Ernest J. Pascucci Soccer Field,” Ronnie Pascucci, Ernest’s son, said. “The $350,000 in improvements represent more than just upgrades to a field - they are an investment in the young athletes, families, and community who will create memories there for generations to come.”
“New bathrooms and improved lighting will go a long way toward making Pascucci Soccer Field more inviting, safer, and enjoyable for everyone who comes here to play or watch a game,” said Spiro Tsirkas, the City of Glen Cove’s Director of Youth Services. “We are very grateful for Delia’s support for continuing with the upgrades at Pascucci Soccer Field, and we are looking forward to future opportunities to further improve this beloved facility.”

Pascucci Memorial Soccer Field – one of Glen Cove’s most in-demand sports facilities for leagues and countless youth programs – will ensure it remains a regional destination for many years to come,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “On a personal level, Pascucci Field is incredibly special to me and my family because of the close bond that Ernest Pascucci and my father shared, and how my father had the privilege as Mayor of dedicating the field in his honor in 1989. The seven years of hard work in support of this grant was incredibly worthwhile, and I thank my Democratic caucus colleagues for standing together in support of fair funding for every part of our County.”
