DeRiggi-Whitton, Project HELP Long Island Host Narcan Training Sessions at Port Washington Library

(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) - Equip yourself with the knowledge that may one day empower you to save a person’s life by joining Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) and Project HELP Long Island at their upcoming Narcan training event at the Port Washington Public Library.

From 2 – 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, participants will be provided Narcan kits and learn how to spot the signs of an opiate overdose, be shown how to administer intranasal Naloxone to reverse an overdose and learn about new approaches to treating addiction. The sessions are being presented in partnership with Nassau County’s Department of Human Services; and the Office of the Nassau County Executive.

“Narcan is a proven tool for reversing overdoses – and being prepared to respond to an emergency can make all the difference when every second counts,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I’m proud to be partnering with Project HELP and the County to bring Narcan training to Port Washington, and I encourage everyone to join us and gain the knowledge that can help them give a person a second chance at life and get them on the path to long term recovery.”

For more information about the workshop, please contact Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton’s office at 516-571-6211 or dderiggiwhitton@nassaucountyny.gov.
