(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) is pleased to welcome Port Washington’s Sadie Muller and Benjamin Lumi as Minoirty Caucus interns for the summer of 2026.

Muller, who is a rising junior at UC Berkeley, is returning for a second summer in the Minority Leader’s office, where she has focused on issues such as environmental and public health inequities in the Towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead. Previously, she conducted a composting pilot program with Residents Forward and organized an initiative at Salem Elementary School that reduced food waste at the school through a composting program.

Lumi, who is a rising sophomore and political science major at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., currently works as a research assistant for the WashU Political Science department, volunteers with the National Alzheimer’s Buddies in St. Louis, and is a referee with WashU Intramural Sports, further building upon an interest in athletics that he cultivated as a high school student.

“You’re never too young to make a positive impact in your community, and Sadie and Benjamin have already demonstrated a commitment to serving others that makes the world around them a better place,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “They are just two of the impressive young people that our caucus is so fortunate to have working with us this summer, and I am grateful for their interest in working for the people of Nassau County!”
