(MANORHAVEN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) partnered with Port Washington Police Department Chief of Department Kevin McCarroll to host a Narcan training event at Manorhaven Village Hall on Thursday, June 11.
Participants were provided with Narcan kits, taught how to spot the signs of an opiate overdose, shown how to administer intranasal Naloxone, and informed about new approaches to treating addiction. The session was led by Chief McCarroll and hosted in partnership with Nassau County’s Department of Human Services and the Office of the Nassau County Executive.
“Narcan workshops provide participants with tools and knowledge to save lives, and outstanding law enforcement professionals like Chief McCarroll provide attendees with his first-hand knowledge and insights that demonstrate how each of us can make a tremendous difference when every second matters during an emergency,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I look forward to working closely with Chief McCarroll – who hosted this event only 10 days after he became Chief – on devising future initiatives to address this public health crisis and help our neighbors and loved ones achieve long-term, sustainable recovery in their lives.”
“I would also like to thank Project HELP Long Island for their continued partnership in this life-saving mission, and Manorhaven Village Hall for being such gracious and accommodating hosts for this important program,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said.
