(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) secured the unanimous passage of a $100,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant for the Port Washington Public Library on Monday, July 27. The funds will be applied toward the acquisition and installation of 200 linear square feet of storage space for historical documents.
“The Port Washington Public Library is thrilled to receive this Nassau County grant that will go towards improving and enhancing the library’s local history area,” Library Director Keith Klang said. “The Port Washington community is one that deeply values its history, and this funding will allow the library to further educate the community and preserve that history for generations to come.”
“As the daughter of a local historian, I have seen firsthand throughout my life importance of proper storage as my mother combed through documents during her research,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “These funds will equip the Port Washington Public Library to preserve essential artifacts for future generations to learn from and enjoy, and I thank my colleagues for voting unanimously in support of this grant.”
