(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) secured the unanimous passage of a $275,000 Community Revitalization Project (CRP) grant for the Incorporated Village of Port Washington North. The funds will be applied toward the purchase and installation of sun shades, lighting, tables, benches, trash receptacles, water fountains and charging stations within the park.
County funding secured by Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton will further complement $1.675 million in New York State funding, provided through Governor Kathy Hochul, to build the playground. Features include Americans with Disabilities Act-complaint musical playground equipment with sensory features, a “quiet grove” to give children respite in moments of overstimulation, a splash pad, outdoor exercise equipment, enhanced lighting for a walking trail, and more.
