(FREEPORT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) partnered with the Freeport-Merrick Rotary Club and the Moore 4 You Community Development Center to host a winter coat and accessory giveaway in Freeport on Monday, Dec. 15.
During the event, Legislator Koslow distributed more than 200 coats and other winter essentials that were gathered at the Freeport Memorial, North Merrick and North Bellmore libraries and the Freeport-Merrick Rotary Club headquarters. Proceeds included dozens of children’s coats provided by Moore 4 You and 240 pairs of new socks and hats for children and babies, which Freeport-Merrick Rotary member Kerry Gillick-Goldberg secured from Bombas and Vibrance 360 Medical Spa, respectively.
In addition, coats were provided to Melissa Meals & Ministry founder Melissa Harris and Feed the Community founder Regina Hart, both of whom will distribute the coats as part of their homeless outreach initiatives. Berto Jimenez, from the Freeport PAL (pictured below) was also among the event volunteers.
“It is often said that the holidays are the season of giving – and the success of our second annual winter coat drive shows how enthusiastically the communities of District 5 embraced this calling to pay it forward,” Legislator Koslow said. “It was truly inspiring to see how our communities came together to care for each other and extend a helping hand – all of which was made possible by support of the Freeport-Merrick Rotary Club, Moore 4 You, our partners at the libraries, and the generosity of so many Nassau County residents. For that, I will be forever grateful!”
