(WESTBURY, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell proudly joined the community at the Islamic Center of Long Island in Westbury on Sunday, Feb. 1 for their 22nd annual Black History Month celebration. The event showcased an array of powerful stories and presentations by leaders in government, education, civil rights advocacy, and the arts. There were also mobile museum exhibitions on display from the African American Mobile Museum and Unspoken History Treasures.

“Nassau County’s vibrancy is directly attributable to the cross section of cultures and faiths that call our community home, and the strength of our diversity was on full display at this inspiring gathering,” Legislator Russell said. “I am thankful to ICLI for hosting such an uplifting event to launch the 100th anniversary of Black History Month in the heart of Westbury.”
