Legislator Russell Launches Community Fireside Chat Series with Minority Mental Health Forum

WHAT – In observance of July as Minority Mental Health Month, Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) is hosting a Minority Mental Health community fireside chat at the Van Ness Fire Station in Uniondale at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27.

Featured guest panelists include marriage and family therapist Dr. Phyllis Carter, LCMST, Daniel Lloyd, CEO of Minority Millennials, Glenda Momrelle-Clarke, LMHC, founder of Soul Discovery, and Karl Telemaque, LMSW, SouthEnd Psychiatry.

"For far too long, many people in our communities have grown up hearing messages like, 'Be strong,' 'Pray about it,' 'Don't tell people your business,' or 'You'll be fine.' While faith and resilience are invaluable, they should never become barriers to seeking healing, support, or connection," Legislator Russell said "Through this Fireside Chat, we hope to create a safe and welcoming space where honest conversations about mental health can take place without fear or stigma.

WHEN – 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026
