(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Scott M. Davis (D -Rockville Centre) and Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) joined the ABBA Leadership Center on Saturday, May 10 for their annual Mother’s Day celebration. During the event, which featured a keynote address by Dr. Darlene Powell Garlington, ABBA Leadership honored Theresa Sparrow-Gill, President of the Hempstead Chapter’s Key Women, Barbara V. Powell, President of the Hempstead NAACP, Tina Hodge-Bowles of Operation Get Ahead, and Nassau County Deputy County Executive Anissa Moore for their contributions to the greater Hempstead community.
“Through the compassion they demonstrate and their advocacy for our community’s children, Hempstead Village’s mothers are strengthening the foundation of our community on a daily basis,” Legislator Davis said. “As a native of Hempstead Village, it was a privilege to join ABBA Leadership in celebrating Mother’s Day with a group of truly phenomenal women who make a tremendously positive impact.”
“By nurturing the physical, mental and spiritual growth of our community’s young leaders, the mothers and the female leaders of Hempstead Village are building a better future,” Legislator Russell said. “It was wonderful to join ABBA Leadership in a celebration of a transformational spirit that enriches all of our lives.”
