WHAT - Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) and Legislator Viviana R. Russell (D – Westbury) are joining forces with the Nassau County Police Department’s Second Precinct, government colleagues, and an array of community stakeholders to celebrate National Night Out at Cantiague Park in Hicksville from 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Held in thousands of communities around the country each year on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out is an initiative that seeks to promote “police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.”
The event is scheduled to feature dozens of vendors, an array of local community partners in business, education, and healthcare, free ice cream, raffle prizes, live entertainment, and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable donations in support of Deputy Minority Leader Drucker’s annual Harry Chapin memorial food drive in support of Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
“For a decade as your Legislator, National Night Out has been a true highlight of my summer because of how it brings everyone together in support of our shared desire for safe and vibrant communities,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “I am looking forward to working with Legislator Russell and our partners in law enforcement, government and so many outstanding community organizations to bring National Night Out to Hicksville’s Cantiague Park!”
“National Night Out brings neighbors, law enforcement, local leaders, and families together to strengthen community bonds, promote public safety, and foster unity in communities like Hicksville across Long Island,” Legislator Russell said. “Safer, stronger communities start with connection, and I am grateful to be working with Deputy Minority Leader Drucker in support of an event that empowers us all to build bridges and uplift each other.”
