WHAT - To help young students begin the 2026-27 school year on the right foot, Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) is partnering with New York State Senator Siela A. Bynoe, Town of North Hempstead Councilman Robert Troiano, and the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) to present “The Road to Success” back-to-school celebration at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Family-friendly attractions, including games, arts and crafts, light refreshments, music from a DJ and more are scheduled in addition to the approximately 850 backpacks and refreshments (while supplies last) that are being provided for the event by the Nassau County PBA. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to receive their backpack.
“Years ago, I had the privilege of assisting then-Legislator Bynoe with bringing the ‘Road to Success’ celebration to our community, and since that time, the generosity of this event’s sponsors has equipped thousands of students with the tools they need to start a new school year with excitement and confidence,” Legislator Russell said. “I am thrilled to once again be working alongside Senator Bynoe, Councilman Troiano, the Nassau PBA and our outstanding community partners to continue this great back-to-school tradition in the communities of Westbury and New Cassel.”
