(SAG HARBOR, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) proudly joined literature enthusiasts from across Long Island at the Breakwater Yacht Club in Sag Harbor on Saturday, Aug. 1 for the fourth annual Black Authors Festival – an occasion which brought together authors, educators, community leaders, and residents to celebrate storytelling, literacy, and the preservation of Black history and excellence.
Legislator Russell had the privilege of presenting Nassau County Legislature Citations to this year’s outstanding honorees in recognition of their achievements, leadership, and lasting contributions to the community. A full list of honorees can be found at https://www.blackauthorsfestival.com/team-2.
“In just four years, the Black Authors Festival has grown to become a powerful celebration of literature, culture, and the enduring impact of Black voices,” Legislator Russell said. “Thank you to President and Founder Darlene Williams and the Black Authors Festival organizers for creating a meaningful event that uplifts authors, encourages literacy, and celebrates the power of storytelling. I look forward to seeing this incredible festival continue to grow and inspire future generations.”
