(UNIONDALE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislators Olena Nicks (D - Uniondale) and Viviana L. Russell (D - Westbury) proudly supported Uniondale’s International Unity in the Community Day celebration at the Cornelius Court Elementary School on Saturday, Aug. 29. Attendees enjoyed an array of entertainment and vendors, family-friendly attractions, raffles, games and free giveaways, including free lunch bags and free backpacks and school supplies.
“Unity in the community must be more than a catch phrase - it is a philosophy that, when backed with deeds and purpose, has the power to shape young scholars and transform our future,” Legislator Russell said. “It was deeply inspiring to see so many organizations come together in support of the youth of Uniondale at this event, and I was grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.”
“Back to school season reminds us that our greatest responsibility as a community is to uplift our youth and provide them with every opportunity to thrive,” Legislator Nicks said. “As a former trustee of the Uniondale Public Library board, I am thrilled that my colleagues in government and so many generous sponsors supported an event that unites us for an event that support our future leaders.”
