(HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Scott M. Davis (D – Rockville Centre) and Viviana L. Russell (D – Westbury) joined the Antioch Baptist Church of Hempstead faith community on Sunday, April 26 to celebrate the 50th pastoral anniversary and the 30th year of senior pastorship for Bishop Phillip Elliott and First Lady Dr. Sheila Elliott. The occasion simultaneously marked Antioch’s 97th anniversary of service to the residents of Hempstead Village.
“Built upon a foundation of faith and philanthropy, Antioch Baptist Church has done so much to meet the spiritual and physical needs of its congregants, and that is exactly why the congregation has thrived for generations,” Legislator Davis said. “I congratulate Bishop Elliott and First Lady Dr. Elliott for their leadership and dedication to sustaining the spiritual strength of all who worship at Antioch Baptist.”
