(MINEOLA and GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) welcomed Jason Samel, owner of the Buddha Jams yoga studio in Glen Cove, to the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building in Mineola on Thursday, July 24.

Samel led Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton and the Democratic Minority delegation’s team of legislative aides in a series of guided meditations and breathing exercise, with a focus on techniques for expelling the stress and anxiety that is often found in the fast-paced world of government. Between exercises, Samel shared his inspiring personal story of how he discovered yoga and the tremendously positive physical and mental impact it continues to have on the trajectory of his life as a practitioner and small business owner.

“Public service is incredibly rewarding, but it is so important to take care of yourself and deal with the stress that we encounter in the world of government on a daily basis,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “That is why I was so happy to welcome Jason to the Legislature, and I am happy that our team got so much out of what he taught us and his amazing personal story.”
