(SEA CLIFF, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) and the Department of Assessment brought the Homeowners Exemption Liaison Program (H.E.L.P.) program to Sea Cliff Village Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 24. During the seminar, dozens of local property owners received individual assistance from Department of Assessment staff with completing and filing for their veteran, senior citizen, Cold War veteran, volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker and limited-income disability exemptions.

“One of my most important jobs as a Legislator is connecting my constituents with resources that can reduce their taxes and make it more affordable to live in Nassau County,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I am thrilled that so many people took advantage of this chance to get help from knowledgeable Assessment department professionals and put money back into their pockets and thank Sea Cliff Mayor Elena Villafane and Village Administrator Bruce Kennedy for welcoming us to Village Hall. I encourage anyone who still needs to file for their exemptions to attend our upcoming H.E.L.P. session in October or any one of the remaining workshops around the County.”

Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton is hosting a second H.E.L.P. workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at the Port Washington Public Library, 1 Library Drive, Port Washington, N.Y. 11050. All H.E.L.P. sessions are from noon to 2 p.m.; participants are asked to arrive no later than one half-hour prior to the scheduled end time for the event, and to bring copies of their 2024 federal and state income tax returns and other required documentation for completing the application.

Visit https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/DocumentCenter/View/49196/HELP-Calendar-2025-85-x-11 to review a list of all remaining workshops; for more information or to receive a list of necessary documentation, call the Nassau County Department of Assessment at 516-571-1500.
