
(SYOSSET, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) visited Syosset High School on Wednesday, May 20 to honor three outstanding scholars whose research earned them recognition as semifinalists in the 2026 Regeneron Science Talent Search. Joined by Superintendent Dr. Thomas Rogers, Deputy Minority Leader Drucker presented Citations to Seniors Elaine Liu, Grace C. Liu, and Nikhil Shah, who were among the 300 scholars selected by Regeneron based on “exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists.”
Elaine Liu’s project addressed “The Effects of Apology Strategies on the Spread and Intensity of Cancel Culture Incidents.” Grace C. Liu’s work focused on “Evaluating Gender Differences in the Effects of Ambiguity and Misperception on Entrepreneurship in Three Business Development Stages: A Panel Data Analysis.” Nikhil Shah examined “The Impact of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines on Racial Disparities in Federal Sentencing.”
“Each year, I marvel at the young scholars from our community who passionately delve into research into the critical issues that will shape our future. Their success is truly inspiring, and it is a testament to the importance of public education in our society,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “These are accomplishments we can all take comfort and pride in, and I salute Syosset High School’s Regeneron semifinalists for their commitment to building a better future for us all.”
