(PLAINVIEW, SYOSSET and JERICHO, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) thanks the communities of District 16 for generously supporting his office’s annual summer food drive with nearly 400 pounds of donations to Long Island Cares - the food pantry Harry Chapin built.
From July 16 through Aug. 9, residents donated unopened, non-perishable food items at community drop-off locations within the Plainview-Old Bethpage, Syosset and Jericho Public Libraries. Donations for Baxter’s Pet Pantry will also be accepted in support of their mission to ensure that every member of the family has access to the nutritious food that they need.
“Food insecurity is real - not just here on Long Island, but in communities across our country,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “Whenever I partner with Long Island Cares to raise awareness about this important issue, it brings me great joy to see our community come together to support this mission. Harry Chapin made fighting hunger his personal mission, and together, we are continuing to work toward his dream of eradicating hunger on Long Island. My heartfelt thanks to the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, Syosset Public Library, and Jericho Public Library for opening their doors, welcoming donations, and helping make this food drive a success.”
