(PLAINVIEW, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) proudly joined the Plainview-Old Bethpage school community in commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Night at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School on Thursday, Jan. 29.
The evening included a ribbon cutting ceremony for the high school’s newly reopened Holocaust and Genocide Education Center, a presentation by Donna Rosenblum, Director of Education for Nassau County’s Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, and workshops facilitated by POB-JFK High School students.
“Attending this grand opening at my alma mater filled me with such pride and emotion because Plainview is just one of two high schools in New York State - and perhaps the nation - to have such an impactful resource to educate our students, their families and our community on the insidious and devastating effects of antisemitism, hatred and intolerance.” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “I couldn’t be prouder of my school district and the students, faculty and parents who helped develop and complete this amazing place, and I am thankful to Assemblymember Chuck Lavine for securing state funds to support this project.”
