(JERICHO, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) congratulated Jericho High School senior Jacob Fine for his leadership and commitment to promoting financial literacy amongst his peers.
During the Thursday, Oct. 29 school board meeting at the Jericho Middle School Library, Deputy Minority Leader Drucker presented Jacob with a Nassau County Legislature Citation in recognition of his efforts to launch the Financial Freedom Initiative, which offers free workshops focused upon saving, investing, taxes, compound interest, and debt management.
Since its inception last year, the Initiative has conducted more than 50 workshops, reached nearly 2,000 students, and established partnerships with the Nassau County Library System, community centers, the Boys & Girls Clubs, and more. He additionally co-organized the inaugural Long Island Teen Finance Conference, which brought together approximately 150 students and nine finance professionals.
“Jacob’s peer-to-peer approach shows how young people can be impactful leaders in programs that educate, inspire, and empower one another,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “His efforts once again demonstrate how age is no barrier to making a positive impact in the world, and I commend his work and wish him continued success as he builds the Financial Freedom Initiative.”
