(PLAINVIEW, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) invites the community to join him in supporting “The Intersection of Art and Music Through the Ages” – a special event series of curated art history presentations and live musical performances at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library.
The final two showcases of the three-month series include presentations on “Romanticism: Passion & Imagination” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18 (registration begins Oct. 5) and “Abstract Expression & Modern Jazz” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15 (registration begins Nov. 2). The series, which began with “Baroque: Drama, Light & Opera” on Sept. 27, is curated by art history Professor Thomas Germano and features musical ensembles led by Maestro Brent Morden.
The project is being funded by the Statewide Community Regrants Program, which is sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts, which is supported by the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Huntington Arts Council.
“Nassau County’s libraries are vibrant, multifaceted community hubs that bring our neighbors together and provide essential platforms for elevating the arts and the humanities,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “This special series – one which fuses art and music into beautiful and informative multimedia events – beautifully spotlights the library’s unique and expanding role in modern society, and I thank my friends at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library and their New York State partners for making this possible.”
