WHAT – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) will join forces with the Family & Children’s Association to host a senior scam prevention workshop at the Syosset Public Library at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29.
During the event, experts will provide community members with valuable guidance for protecting themselves from becoming victims of criminals who seek to exploit them. Topics will include an exploration of what financial abuse and exploitation is; who is targeted and why; ways financial abuse and exploitation occur; scams to be aware of; red flags for possible signs of financial abuse; ways to protect yourself; and what to do if you have been victimized by a scammer.
“Vigilance, awareness and education are essential for stopping scam artists in their tracks – and these workshops will give community members the tools they need to protect themselves and their loved ones from unscrupulous, predatory criminals,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “I am proud to be partnering with the Family & Children’s Association and the Syosset Public Library to present this important workshop for our community, and I encourage everyone to join us on April 29.”
