(EAST HILLS and PLAINVIEW, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) proudly joined his colleagues in East Hills on Friday, Sept. 18, where New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced $1 million in State grants for the Sid Jacobson JCC and the Manes Mid Island Y JCC. Through Governor Hochul’s grants, each will receive $500,000 to bolster security at their respective facilities.
This latest tranche of state funding will help to bolster the impact of resources previously delivered by Deputy Minority Leader Drucker. In late 2024, Deputy Minority Leader Drucker secured $950,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the Manes JCC, which at the time was the largest single gift that the organization had ever received. He additionally in 2024 secured Hotel-Motel Occupancy Grant funding in support of the Sid Jacobson JCC’s cultural programming and offerings.
“As the author of the legislation which launched Nassau County’s Task Force to Combat Antisemitism, the rise in antisemitic incidents throughout our society is appalling and alarming, and it has caused Jewish families to become more concerned than ever for their safety,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker. “That is why Governor Hochul’s million-dollar commitment to the security of two of Nassau County’s most prominent hubs of Jewish life is so essential and comforting for all who use these vibrant, diversified facilities. I applaud her leadership and willingness to send a clear message that there will be zero tolerance for antisemitism or bigotry of any kind here in Nassau County or anywhere in the Empire State.”
