(HICKSVILLE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) joined The Book Fairies at their Hicksville headquarters on Sunday, April 12 as they celebrated the delivery of their 6,000,000th book to deserving local youngsters.
Since its inception in founder Amy Zaslansky’s garage in 2012, The Book Fairies have worked to source and redistribute books to under-resourced communities on Long Island, in New York City, and internationally to give children every opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Author Lauren Sánchez Bezos celebrated the milestone by donating cases of her children’s book, “The Fly Who Knew,” and Nancy Krulik and Jen Calonita were on hand signing books.
“The Book Fairies prove that small acts can spark something extraordinary,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “It was an absolute honor to connect with so many passionate volunteers, teachers selecting books for their students, and dedicated community members who bring this mission to life every day. Thank you to Executive Director Courtney Collins for extending the invitation - it was a pleasure to witness this remarkable operation in action. Here’s to changing lives, inspiring minds, and spreading the love of reading – one book at a time.”
