(JERICHO, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview) had the pleasure of sharing in the 100th birthday celebration of Jean Silvers at Atria Plainview The Bristal in Jericho on Thursday, Aug. 27. During the festivities, Deputy Minority Leader Drucker presented Mrs. Silvers with a Nassau County Legislature Citation in recognition of her milestone birthday, which she celebrated on August 25.
Born in Brooklyn, Jean shared that her favorite childhood memory is playing ball in the street, a testament to her love for simple joys and outdoor activities. Jean found the love of her life, with whom she enjoyed traveling, particularly cherishing their trips to Israel.
A graduate of Brooklyn College, she worked as a dietician and later a pharmacist for more than 30 years. Family holds a special place in Jean's heart, and she treasures the time spent with her loved ones, which includes three children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jean maintains an active and engaged lifestyle, and enjoys puzzles, trivia, canasta, shopping, music, movies and volunteering for the Boy and Girl Scouts and various Jewish organizations.
“When I had to chance to speak with Jean, I learned that her life’s philosophy to ‘think before you speak,’ beautifully encapsulates the thoughtful and considerate nature that has carried her through a century of life so well,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “Please join me in wishing her a very happy 100th birthday and many more years of good health, joy, peace, and beautiful moments to enjoy!”
