(WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Olena Nicks (D – Uniondale) joined the West Hempstead Civic Association in celebrating 2026 Person of the Year Pete Johansen on Thursday, Nov. 5. “Whether through his service in the U.S. Navy, by supporting local veterans as Post Commander of the American Legion or strengthening the faith community at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Pete Johansen’s dedication to strengthening the fabric of the West Hempstead community shines through in all of his pursuits,” Legislator Nicks said. “He is a tremendously deserving recipient of this honor from the West Hempstead Civic Association, and it was a privilege to be part of this joyous celebration!”
