(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – During the monthly birthday celebration at the Glen Cove Senior Center, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) proudly joined her mother, Dr. Millie DeRiggi, as she rang in her 86th birthday one day early on Friday, July 19. As always, the day’s festivities were filled with cake, roses, singing and celebration for all of July’s “birthday babies” at the Center. Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton began the tradition nearly two decades ago while serving on the Glen Cove City Council.
“Birthday parties at the Glen Cove Senior Center are always a very special occasion, but July is especially meaningful because I get to celebrate with my mom,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I am so thankful to everyone who works to enrich the lives of our residents at the Senior Center, and their dedication is evident in how wonderful each month’s birthday celebrations are. I wish everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous year to come!”
